St. Joseph’s College Sports

Sport is key to self development. From All-Island Champions to numerous national team players to Olympic athletes, here at St. Joseph’s College, being a sportsman is an honor and a privilege.

The high end facilities and experienced coaches succeed in bringing out the potential in our very own talented
sportsmen, who played a major role in bringing this hallowed institution to the great heights it stands on today. Constantly orienting the Blue and White Flag to triumph, a privilege is what it is, to be a sportsman of the College.
them into role model citizens.

Swimming

A sport in which the Josephians have been particularly dominant, winning the last 16 consecutive National swimming Championships. Swimmers make major commitments and sacrifices, arriving at 5 am to train in the ice-cold water until sunrise. With the provision of ample state of the art facilities such as an Olympic standard swimming pool, which was declared open on the 30th of July 1952, it also in fact happens to be the first of its kind in a Sri Lankan school. Over the last 2 decades, the standards of College swimming have reached heights never thought to be possible before, under the guidance of the coach Mr. Ruwan Manawadu.
